Whitetail Hill App Privacy Policy

The Whitetail Hill mobile app is operated by WHC Farms LLC, doing business as Whitetail Hill ("Whitetail Hill," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we don't sell it, and you can delete all of it yourself at any time.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address and password (passwords are stored in hashed form by our infrastructure provider; we never see them), used to sign you in and connect your soil tests and orders to your account.

Property and plot information you create. Plot boundaries and acreage, map pins, lines, and areas you draw, names and colors you assign, guide answers and saved plans, and soil test numbers you enter. This is the heart of the app — it exists so your information is there when you come back.

Location. With your permission, the app uses your device's location to center the map, measure plots by walking their edge, position the sun path in Sun Check, and fetch wind forecasts near points you choose. Location is used while you're using the app only. We do not track your location in the background, and we do not maintain a history of your movements.

Camera and motion sensors. Sun Check uses your camera and your phone's motion sensors to draw the sun's path over your actual view. The camera image stays on your screen — nothing is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere. Motion sensor readings never leave your phone.

Crash reports. If the app crashes, we receive a technical report (device model, iOS version, and what the code was doing) so we can fix the problem. Crash reports don't include your plots, soil numbers, or location.

Purchases. When you buy seed or trees, checkout happens on our Shopify stores (whitetailhill.com and whitetailhillchestnuts.com) under their systems. The app itself never sees or stores your payment details.

When you contact us. Texting, calling, or emailing from the Team tab happens through your phone's own apps under your carrier's or provider's terms; we receive whatever you choose to send us.

What we don't collect. No advertising identifiers, no contact lists, no photos (unless you send them to us yourself by text or email), no background location, no analytics profiles for sale.

How we use it

To run the app's features; to connect your soil tests and orders to your account; to answer you when you contact us; and to improve the app. That's it.

Who else touches your data

- Supabase (our database and sign-in provider) stores your account and app data on servers in the United States.
- Our email delivery provider sends sign-in codes and account emails to your address on our behalf.
- Shopify handles our stores and checkout under its own privacy policy.
- The National Weather Service receives the coordinates of points you request wind for (a government API; no account information is sent).
- Apple Maps provides map imagery under Apple's privacy policy.
- Our crash-reporting provider receives the technical crash reports described above.
- We send coordinates or ZIP codes to services that translate them into growing zones for the tree guide.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with the service providers above, as needed to run the app, or if the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

Delete everything. In the app: Tools → Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account, plots, maps, saved plans, and soil results.

Location, camera, and sensors. You can decline or revoke these permissions in your device settings; map browsing and the guides still work without them.

Questions or requests. Email contact@whitetailhill.com or text (256) 415-4085 and a real person will handle it. If your state gives you specific privacy rights, the same contact handles those requests too.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date. Big changes get called out in the app.
