That’s why you need a kill plot. Experienced hunters know it’s these small (0.25-2 acre) plots where most of their successful hunts end.
Tucked away in cover, deer feel safe stopping off at these small plots on their way to major night time feeding areas while it’s still daylight. This sets you up to close the deal on those smart nocturnal bucks.
Our Kill Plot mix is specifically designed to withstand heavy graze pressure, thrive in small shady plots, and have highly attractive forages to give deer a reason to keep stopping by day after day. Plant in a secluded corner of a larger field, a small backwoods opening, or ideally a smaller plot near a large destination food source. Deer will flow through and grab a bite on their way to and from night time destinations giving you excellent opportunities during daylight.

How we formulated this mix:
The clovers in this mix establish quickly, stand up to heavy grazing, tolerate small shady plots well, and continue growing late into winter. Rape, radish, and rutabaga are highly attractive giving deer a reason to stop by on their way to larger destination food sources and tolerate shade well. Chicory adds even more attraction and excellent nutrition to this mix while tolerating shade.

Prep the seedbed
Disc, till, or plow — or go no-till and just rake/lightly expose the soil. Then smooth and firm it down.

Sow the seed
Small seed, don't bury it too deep. Spread it right on the firmed, smoothed soil — ¼" is perfect. Don't bury it deep.

Press it in
Cultipack or drive over the plot to press the seed into the soil for good contact. That's all it needs.

Sprouted in about 5 days and the deer where in it from the start. Photo is about 3 weeks of growth. Planted 3 stages to make sure they don't eat it all before the season is out, really looking forward to the season hunting over my Killplots!
Planted this Kill Plot in early to mid September, it got a little to no rain for the first 2-3 weeks. It came up and I thought it would struggle or may not make it all. Label says drought resistant and it’s correct. After good rains and temps it came on strong. Can’t wait for October/ November

The seed grew up beautifully and all within 2 week bucks, does, and turkey are eating from it several times daily. I will continue to use this product. Customer Service is Excellent.
It’s growing. Too soon to say, I want to see how it does in the partial shade before a review. Blew the ground clear with a blower, sprayed round up, and broadcast. Didn’t work the soil in any way.
It came up in less than 2 weeks, and so that’s not the best. I did add some fertilizer in, but very satisfied with the product. I’ll definitely buy again.
Worked great. Late Sept in VA. Raked an area in the woods just before a rainstorm, threw down kill plot, came back 10 days later to visible growth. Trail cam snapped some deer already picking…

This is 12 days in and I’m pleased so far. We had plenty of rain just prior to planting with 3 days of forecasted rain after planting,but wouldn’t you know we only got 2 small showers so I hope we get some soon although it’s not calling for any until later this week. Fingers crossed!
I saw your seed on facebook. I always wanted to plant a kill plot. I got permission to hunt 50 acres in Maryland. I made a harrow to drag behind a side by side, made home made safe weed killer, brought a rake and weed wacker and created a kill plot in the woods. It was an old logging road that had grasses growing on it. I only had one night and the next day as the property is 2 hours from my house. I saw there wsa rain in the forcast and left after work on Tuesday, started the food plot and finished up on Wednesday. I used the homemade harrow to get started but then had to rake it by hand. I sprayed the weed killer on Tuesday night. The next morning I added lime, the seed and peat moss and raked it again. I just finished and a good 2 hour rain rolled in. I was blown away when I went to open the seed and read the message on the lid. I thought, God is involved with this food plot, I can't lose. I am looking forward to hopefully attracting a big buck in October. Thanks for the help. God bless.

Prepped and planted in the middle of a dry spout. But it was the only time i could get to my out of state lease. After 6 days of planting it did rain a little bit. Im anxious to see how well it grows. Im happy so far.
Minimal hand tilling, mixed no till and kill plot together in small plots by my stand. Had 3 week drought, this is after 2 days of rain. Very pleased, will need to fence it off for a few weeks to keep the deer out until it’s time to climb the tree!
