Specially selected varieties of sorghum and millet of varying heights produce a dense screen up to 12ft tall to hide your plots and stand access giving deer the security they need to use your plots during daylight and keeping you hidden

Providing deer with a sense of security can make all the difference. If mature deer rarely use your plots during daylight, screening cover may be what you’re missing. Dividing large plots into smaller areas can help deer feel more secure and help funnel movement right past your stand. Screening mixes are an excellent tool for shaping movement and providing you with concealed access to your stand especially in situations where you're working with large open areas.

Screen off a small corner of a large ag or hay field and create a secluded kill plot, or plant a line of Hideaway cutting across an open field to a stand location to let you sneak in undetected. Use around property lines to obscure the view of neighbors or road hunters. Planting around plots also entices bucks to commit to entering the plot in search of does since they will no longer be able to simply peer in from the safety of the woods.

This mix of specially selected sorghums and millet will produce a layered screen that is thick enough for concealment and sturdy enough to stand up to wind and snow. The species we selected range in height from short to tall (up to 12ft tall) and provide a framework to hold each other up. Other screening mixes fall flat without this support.

Use around food plots for added security or along access corridors to your stands to keep deer from seeing you and keep pressure down. Get into position undetected and prevent over pressuring your herd. The results of using screening mixes and bringing down hunting pressure can be night and day in terms of deer using your plots. Try it out for yourself and see the difference.

Ingredients:

2 Sorghums

Millet

How we formulated this mix:

Having species of varying heights is key when creating a screening mix. The components here include short, medium, and tall plants which create a latticework and support each other even in wind and snow ensuring that this screen will stand up where others won’t. Also of note is that the species here have little to no food value to deer ensuring that deer will largely stay out of your screen and are not likely to be browsing it which is especially helpful is using to access stands. Using things like standing corn for a screen can sometimes backfire causing you to spook feeding deer in your way into a stand.

WHERE TO PLANT: Best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade (expect reduced height). Designed to provide cover around food plots and for hunter access to stands.

pH: 5.5-7.5

MINIMUM SOIL FERTILITY NEEDED: Moderate

WHEN TO PLANT:

Plant late Spring- Summer at least 100-120 days before season opener or average first frost in your area (whichever comes first) to ensure it reaches max height.

SOIL PREP: Disc, tiller, plow, or no-till planter. Culti-pack or drive over with ATV before and after planting for best results.

PLANTING DEPTH: 1/4 - 1/2in

There are many food plot seed companies out there. This is my choice because it’s good seed and they aren’t scared to show their faith.

True testament to the Bucks and Beards food plot seed. Germinated great and is bringing them in by the herd. Have 7 nice bucks feeding out of it daily.
