How we formulated this mix:
Triticale provides a fast growing and extremely hardy nurse crop to help establish the perennial clovers and chicory. All will provide forage for deer throughout fall and winter and really explode in growth early their first spring creating a magnet for turkeys in time for spring season. Triticale will often have grain heads come spring another favorite of turkeys. Native joint vetch will come in during the first spring/summer and provides excellent forage for both deer and turkeys. Turkeys especially love to forage among joint vetch as it is a major host for bugs which make up a large part of turkey’s natural diet. Persistent and highly adaptable it makes a preferred warm season deer forage to make this plot truly multi-season and multi-species.

FERTILIZER: For best results use the Whitetail Hill Soil Test and apply fertilizer as recommended by the test.

Disc, till, or plow — or go no-till and just rake/lightly expose the soil. Then smooth and firm it down.

Small seed — don't bury it. Spread it right on the firmed, smoothed soil; ¼" is perfect.

Originally there was an issue with shipping that the team at Whitetail hill quickly corrected and took care of. Once receiving the seed I quickly spread and fertilized the next day and even with less than desirable rainfall the seed quickly took off. Tilled Saturday seeded on Monday rained on Tuesday and Wednesday. Seed was sprouting on Saturday. Even with turkeys scratching up the seed. I’ll forward more pics at the end of the month. So far so good. Thanks
My first year planting a food plot. Half of plot is bucks and beards and other half is kill plot. I don’t have recent pictures but growing nicely. We have had a lot of rain.
Wanted to give an updated review on bucks and beards and multi year mix, this stuff is looking great, this is by far the best looking backwoods plot I’ve ever had! This plot was frost seeded in January in northern Louisiana. Great product will buy more!
Bought a new peice of property and have had cameras out since December and had no sign of turkeys, planted bucks and beards and by mid of March after about 2 weeks of planting had first sign of turkeys
Have been trying for years to get a good plot frost seeded on this old logging road. This year frost seeded bucks and beards and multi year mix ended up with a weeks worth of snow and ice on top of it but it has exploded out of the ground since then. Great product will probably be moving more towards whitetail hills products and away from whitetail institute.
After a lot of snow and ice I was finally able to blow the leaves off and frost seed these plots. Got rain that night with so
e good frost and thaw over the next couple days. It’s just starting so I’m still hoping that everything comes up as expected. I may have spread it a little thick as the 2 lb bucket was to cover 2 acres and I only planted about 1 1/4 acres. It would be helpful to know where to set the opening for my spreader. When I set it to accommodate the larger triticale seed I feel the clover and chicory came out too fast. When I closed the opening a little I couldn’t tell if I was getting an even spread. We’ll see in a month or so how well I got it down. Looking forward to a good spring plot
First planted bucks and beards last September in 8 food plots in central MS. Rain did not come as forecasted. It rained 6 weeks later. Somewhat surprised the seeds germinated as well as they did. The deer and turkeys have kept the plots grazed to the ground. Frost seeded all plots 3 weeks ago hoping not having to plant again this Fall. The only reason for 4 stars is there are large cereal grains seeds in the mix and have to open the gate setting to 1 1/2 on a solo spreader to stop the clogging. At that setting the small cover seeds run out first.
I planted this in a bunch of oak forest no tilling and it took off as soon as it rained. I hope the perennial seeds last through the winter and then come back in the spring to plant out the whole plot.
Great product. Germinated really fast and is coming in really well. Will give more feedback after season starts but so far i am really impressed.

the seed mix seems to have a lot of clover that is out growing the other seed combination. Germination is good with the seed mixture, I just wish it had less clover and more of the other seed mix.
I haven’t put it down yet, it’s been raining. But i do like the company and will be using them in the future. Plus advertising their products on my page, especially if the deer love it.

I frost seeded my food plot three weeks ago but have no germination yet. But I am in far northern Wisconsin on the Michigan border so it was still very cold until this week.
I am hoping it grows as I am anxious to see how the wildlife like the joint fetch and triticale.
