Peas, beans, sorghum, buckwheat, and joint vetch come together to make a protein packed wall of green that deer will absolutely destroy all summer long and into early bow season and sorghum will provide a late season food source
This mix of highly nutritious summer forages will grow into a nearly impenetrable wall of green up to 4 ft high that deer will feed in all summer long.
Specially selected varieties of soybeans and peas provide high quality forage while grain sorghums give them a structure to grow on.
Planting warm season mixes like this is a great way to keep weeds out of your fall plots during summer. If you want to rotate to a cool season mix just mow or disc under in fall or leave standing for deer to use as a late season food source. Sorghum seed heads will get hit hard late season if left standing as will any residual soybean pods. Can also be crimped for no till food plotting.
This versatile mix can fill a large part of your food plot strategy and provide nutrition and attraction throughout multiple seasons. If you want an excellent summer plot to feed deer and keep weeds out of your plots put some Summer Bulk in the ground and start feeding those deer good during summer.
Ingredients:
Forage Soybeans

How we formulated this mix:
Tried and true summer species here. Cowpeas and soybeans provide the bulk of the nutrition and biomass while grain sorghum gives them a place to grow vertically and gives the mix height. Summer protein machine
A wall of green deer can't stay out of.
This blend of high-protein summer forages grows into a nearly impenetrable wall of green up to 4 feet tall that deer feed in all summer long and into early bow season. Soybeans and cowpeas pack the nutrition; grain sorghum gives them a structure to climb.
It's also a smart way to keep weeds out of your fall plots. Mow or disc it under in fall, or leave the sorghum and bean pods standing as a late-season food source. It can even be crimped for no-till.
Built to perform
Antler and herd fuel
✓ High-protein growth
Soybeans and cowpeas deliver the protein that grows bigger racks and healthier deer all summer.
✓ Multi-season payoff
Standing sorghum heads and leftover bean pods become a sought-after late-season food source.
✓ Weed control built in
A thick summer wall crowds out weeds and sets up cleaner fall plots.
Dead simple to plant
Three steps to a summer wall
1
Prep the seedbed
Disc, till, or plow — or go no-till and just rake/lightly expose the soil. Then smooth and firm it down.
2
Sow the seed
Bigger seed than our cool-season blends — plant it deeper, ½–¾". Drill or drag to cover, then cultipack.
3
Press it in
Cultipack or drive over the plot to press the seed into the soil for good seed-to-soil contact. That's all it needs.

Independently tested — no mystery seed
Every batch is third-party tested for purity and germination before it’s ever shipped out. We process, package, and ship every order right here in Cherokee, Alabama, so you know exactly what you’re putting in the ground — no filler, no guesswork. Questions? Real people who hunt and plant answer the phone.
Cowpeas and soybeans carry the nutrition and biomass; grain sorghum gives them something to climb and adds height. Left standing, the sorghum heads also make an excellent winter food source.
The grip jug (6.5 lb) covers 1/4 acre. The 25 lb bucket covers up to 1 acre.
Will deer wipe it out before fall?
In small plots heavy browsing can knock it back, so it stands up best in plots over 2 acres. Leave sorghum and bean pods standing and it keeps feeding deer into late season.

I planted 20 acres of summer plots this year. 10 acres straight Vetch and 10 acres of Summer Bulk. Deer are browsing heavy on both but the Summer Bulk is so thick the deer can’t get ahead of it like they do on the Vetch. Another massive benefit is it’s actually growing so tall it offers extra cover too! Next year I’ll definitely do Summer Bulk everywhere! Thanks for an incredible seed blend.
Wow, this stuff comes up fast, and thick. Put down a trial strip 6 days ago and this is what’s popping up already. Hope the deer don’t tear it apart too quick. Great seed mix so far. I’ll be planting the rest now, and ordering more.
It’s a small patch, I broadcasted the seeds into a crimped cereal rye patch I planted last fall. We’ve had plenty of rain so far this year. Expecting good growth!
I only hand broadcasted the product and raked it in. We have been getting plenty of rain and the picture is the result so far and it was planted in mid April.
Planted about two months ago, unfortunately it was hammered with rain but it still managed to come up fairly nice. Looking forward to seeing it progress.
I planted this about 10 days ago, in extremely rocky soil before the rain here in Arkansas came. The 3 plots are already 3 to 4 inches tall. Nothing else I've planted there has grown anything. I definitely will be buy every product they have.
Called and ordered over the phone. Shipped right away and I have been very pleased with the product. I’m ready to try some of the other blends this fall.
Literally had no choice this spring but to drill summer bulk into standing water and it turned out awesome. No rain since July 4th and somehow it’s still thriving. The deer are hammering it every day can’t wait for opener here in central Mn!
The product arrived on time. Got it planted a little late the end of June, but it is growing good. I am pleased with it and will probably order it again at a later date.
Happy with results. Field had been dozed out a few days before planting. Had no soil test done on it. We limed it then threw some Triple 17 and 0-20-20 mixed down and planted. Have this buck in it every day.
This was 1 week after being planted. Haven’t taken any recent pictures but they’re not 6 inches tall and deer are already browsing them! Great product and low maintenance!
I live in Western KY. Planted this July 5th after discing and before a good rain. I fertilized some but not to the full extent of my soil sample recommendations due to fertilizer availability. Really impressed at how fast it germinated and how quickly it flushed and controlled weeds. The deer love it. I'm running out of beans because of the deer but the vetch and milo are still holding strong. Have 2 more 1 acre fields I'll be planting with this next year. Cannot recommend enough.
First time trying the summer bulk in central IL the germination of this blend is no joke within three days it was sprouting. Now it's tall and very thick I had rain take a toll on a good portion of a bottom plot I let the soil dry out bought and spread more and it's coming up great! Thanks for a great product!
Very happy with the product. Tilled area broadcasted seed, dragged with section of chain link fence. Seen germination after little over a week. The photos show the growth over a 6 week period. No fertilizer.
My order came fast and I love the packaging! Seed comes in a sturdy plastic container that is sealed to keep see dry and protected. Germination was fast and the plants are filling in great! I used deerplot starter lime which is a liquid fast acting lime along with granular triple 10 fertilizer, and my plot looks very healthy! Looking forward to this hunting season and hoping the food will make a difference in shot opportunity for my kids! Highly recommended. Oh and a pleasant surprise is that these guys are a faith based company! My package came with several decals with encouraging scripture on them! An absolute plus+++
This year my son and I did our first food plot. We used the Summer bulk . It works great its only 3/4 acre and it been dry , but luckily we got just enough rain. When the deer found it they went crazy over it. We see up to eight deer at a time in it. They are hitting it everyday. We are very pleased and can wait to try some other blends this fall.
First time using this, but the Deer really seem to like it. I'm not exactly sure what it was that they liked so much, I am trying to monitor the plot so I can definitely plant more for next year.
Very happy with the germination and easy planting. I simply sprayed the existing weeds. Let them die off and broad casted the seed after some rain and ran over it with a culti packer a few times. It has done well and deer have been consist in it. So far very pleased with it. Thank you
Planted Summer Bulk early June…just used a seed spreader by hand and ground em in with my 4wheeler. No disc or plow but it is a pretty wet area. This is after a month after seeding and deer are hitting it pretty regularly. Great high growth to lead me into now season. This is North Ga.
