Peas, beans, sorghum, buckwheat, and joint vetch come together to make a protein packed wall of green that deer will absolutely destroy all summer long and into early bow season and sorghum will provide a late season food source
This mix of highly nutritious summer forages will grow into a nearly impenetrable wall of green up to 4 ft high that deer will feed in all summer long.
Specially selected varieties of soybeans and peas provide high quality forage while grain sorghums give them a structure to grow on.
Planting warm season mixes like this is a great way to keep weeds out of your fall plots during summer. If you want to rotate to a cool season mix just mow or disc under in fall or leave standing for deer to use as a late season food source. Sorghum seed heads will get hit hard late season if left standing as will any residual soybean pods. Can also be crimped for no till food plotting.
This versatile mix can fill a large part of your food plot strategy and provide nutrition and attraction throughout multiple seasons. If you want an excellent summer plot to feed deer and keep weeds out of your plots put some Summer Bulk in the ground and start feeding those deer good during summer.

How we formulated this mix:
Tried and true summer species here. Cowpeas and soybeans provide the bulk of the nutrition and biomass while grain sorghum gives them a place to grow vertically and gives the mix height. Sorghum also has the potential to be an excellent winter food source for deer if left standing as seed heads are a sought after winter food source.
